SHOULD YOU PAY FULL PRICE FOR A DESIGNER BAG?

Today I’m so excited to share with you how you can rock designer handbags (or any designer piece for that matter!) for way less than retail prices!

The one bag I splurged on was my Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM. I bought the bag two years ago at Nordstrom and have carried it every single day since. You can see my post on the Neverfull here.

So, should you buy a designer handbag brand new? My suggestion would be no! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my bag BUT, I can almost guarantee my next designer bag(s) will be used unless the cost difference between new and used is minimal.

I don’t think it is necessary to purchase a brand new one! With that being said, I wouldn’t suggest going to FB Marketplace or Poshmark to buy your designer bag! I’m not knocking either of these two markets- they are both great for specific uses! There are so many knockoffs, and if you’re spending a good amount of money you want to make sure it’s authentic.

I love The RealReal. I was able to visit their brick and mortar store in Brooklyn when I was in NYC for Fashion Week. If you ever are in the neighborhood you must stop by! They have SO many gorgeous bags, but they also have clothing, jewelry, shoes, etc. online and in store. I purchased a pair of Tory Burch sandals from them for 50% off retail! You never have to worry about authenticity when you buy from TheRealReal.

Tradesy is another great site. Every time I talk to one of my friends and I see they’re rocking a new designer bag- it’s from Tradesy! I personally haven’t purchased anything from Tradesy but I have heard amazing things. This is another site you can comfortably buy items and know you’re getting the real thing!

High End Consignment shops. My parents live in Naples, Florida during the winter and Naples has the best consignment shops!  Whenever I visit I always come home with a handful of new designer pieces. Generally the store is organized by designer which makes it SO helpful! Also, most consignment shops employ someone or train their employees on how to tell if something is authentic or not so you don’t have to worry!

Cobbler. I would never have thought of going to a cobbler to find designer shoes or purses but I’ve actually seen Christian Louboutin shoes at my local cobbler for next to nothing! If you come across a pair of designer shoes or a great bag, pull out your phone and do a little research – each brand has specific things you can look for to ensure you’re getting the real thing!
