I’m home from the whirlwind that was fashion week, I can’t believe how fast it went! I flew into NYC a week early to spend time with friends and family, which went by just as fast! The damn stomach bug took me out for a couple days, thankfully I was feeling well enough to be out and about when fashion week started.I had intentions of getting my nails done before fashion week but getting sick messed with my plans. I ended up w̶a̶l̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ running into Green Tea Nail & Spa like a crazy woman 25 minutes before the first presentation of the day to see if they could do a shellac in 20 minutes. The guy behind the counter called a nail tech over and said “you have 20 min for a shellac, good luck!” They were amazing, got me in and out, and my nails look great! If you’re in NYC and need a manicure I’d suggest checking them out!
After my nails I headed over to Eliza J. I loved learning about the design process, I was shocked to learn the designers started working on the Spring/Summer 2018 Collection in January of 2017— so crazy to me! Their showroom was gorgeous, and each piece of the new collection was prettier than the next! I love their dresses—they are so feminine, with bright colors, beautiful floral patterns and classic lace. I already have my eye on a couple of the dresses for all of the weddings I have this year. Their dresses are sold at Nordstrom, keep an eye out for their spring/summer collection.
Made a stop for a quick lunch and then booked it over to Maggy London for a photoshoot. When we got there each girl had a garment bag with their name + photo on it with a dress waiting for us. We all had individual shoots, as well as a bunch of group shots. It was really neat to be able to see the behind the scenes at all the other shoots that were happening in the space while we were there!
After our shoot with ML we had our own shoot with Sydney Wallace, who is the sweetest ever! We planned to shoot at The Highline, but we ran out of time and didn’t quite make it there so we took some shots at a random location near there. It was so cold and windy by this point, and all we wanted was heat and food!
We grabbed dinner at Chelsea Market and then went to an after party at The Highline hotel. Man, was it an interesting crowd! People watching in NYC is always great, but people watching during New York Fashion week is just the best!
That’s a wrap on day one!
